Some movies are not supposed to be judged by ordinary criteria because they’re important on a different level. That match was an important bit of SA’s identity – just like the Germans winning the football worldchampionship in 1954 was important for the Germany after the 2. worldwar.
Rumour has it that the horse Seabiscuit winning over War Admiral in 1938 did sth similar for the US people. Sometimes moments like that are necessary to make a nation and give it giant push (even if the opponent wasn’t at the height of his ability).
This is what easily came across in this movie.

for starters, life doesn't revolve around America, second you should read up on south African history. Rugby is its number one sport there, they have just got out of 20 years of not playing any sports outside of their own country because of the black white issue which isolated them from competing outside of South Africa with other nations. Mendala just got elected and pushed for South Africa to host the 1995 Rugby world up, so it does revolved around sport, he used sport to bring a nation together. I think your review shows your limits in knowledge outside America, it is like Sarah Palin saying is South Africa a continent comment? I think you should give it a 4 star because the acting is very good and the story is inspiring to get people thinking. Obviously you haven't watched the film or understand the game of Rugby in South Africa
