I keep coming back to the moment later in the film where Bebe Neuwirth talks to her dance student about his letter of reccomendation…also the moment where Debbie Allen pulls a student into her office to talk grades. How come the movie couldn't take the depth and seriousness of these moments and bring it to other scenes?

It's a shame, because I found them to be truly believable and grounded…wheras the Denise/Malik/Victor meeting with the AR guy felt like an outtake from an old 90210 episode.

Kind of a pity since I think this movie had a real chance to say something.
