Agree the ending leaves the audience ripped off ... And the audience wishing they had missed the whole movie experience
Because of the end of the movie, the writers should hang their heads in SHAME.. SHAME..SHAME ...

This movie has a very specific audience in mind (teenage girls and desperate housewives). If you don't belong to either of those groups, then don't bother seeing it as you won't enjoy. For everyone else it drags through its predictable rythms and stuttered dialogue. Pattinson hasn't learned to act - he's still bumping his head against walls, staring aimlessly into space, and mouthing the start of a dialogue that never materializes.

If you do belong to either of the target groups then get the film right away. It's chalk full of pining scenes, sex without sex, and Robert P brooding around like a lost lamb who desperately needs you to save him. Hurry before you're too late and he ends up holding hands with someone else.

Joining the herd of comments I have to say I disagree with almost everything you've written above. Except for the lack of relationship building between Tyler and Ally as well as the fact that Patterson out acted Brosnan and Cooper.

This was an impressive movie and I have to admit that at some points while sitting through it the first time, I didn't really know where they were going with it. The acting was fantastic, with exceptional side characters right down to the little sister. After you see the ending, the message of the movie really comes clear. To live life now, enjoy it now, don't take the future for granted. I only saw it as a rental, so I watched it again right away and found many examples of how the main characters were trying to impress on people to not pass up opportunities to show you care for people. Work gets in the way for many of us and we don't stop and say 'no'....this small family moment in time needs attention and the rest can wait. No one ever wakes up one day and says, "well -- this could be my last day". People in this movie were just going about life not expecting tragedy like anybody else. Look how many people had an unexpected ending to life unfinished on that day. Rob's character tried to make a difference and he did change lives.
