Terminator Salvation is a very good movie. It is obvious that Terminator can be stand-alone movie, without Schwarzenegger. The action scenes are awesome.

This is actually a pretty fair review, I’m glad I read all the really bad reviews before I watched it as I think I enjoyed the movie more because of it. I was expecting something far worse than it actually was. Overall it’s a good movie with great special effects, the bikes were cool!

Thanks for the comment Sam! I always appreciate your insight.

I walked into Terminator knowing full well what I was getting into, and whilst that doesn't mean I shouldn't be critical of it's (glaring) short commings, I had to remind myself when writing this review that I did still enjoy the film. The action was quite a spectacle; it wasn't edited to the point of incoherence, the sound design was stunning and the effects were sublime. I also found Worthington's character more interesting than I first thought he'd be. Whilst it was certainly lacking in humanity overall, I still felt there was more fuelling this than say Transformers. If nothing more, I think it deserves credit for being a solid popcorn flick. Admittedly, that was just what I needed at the time....

In any case, you didn't exactly call this the next CITIZEN KANE either. Your acceptance of it was solely within the limited parameters of its genre.

Well Anders, as usual you pen a most persuasive piece here, and you do make a thoughtfukl defense of the film throughout, and at the end some sage advice for those venturing in. Still, even within the confines of its genre I found this turgid and monotonous. I'm all for the genre when it poses some semblence of originality, but this film was nothing but action sequences, and nothing beneath the surface. It received very bad reviews, and in my view it deserved them. But still, as I said at the outset, you have argued marvelously. One can ask for no more.
